Abbot Academy

The Brace Center exists, in part, due to the generous ongoing support of the Abbot Academy Fund, continuing Abbot Academy’s tradition of boldness, innovation, and caring in education.

One of the first educational institutions in New England founded for girls and women, Abbot Academy opened its doors to seventy students on May 6, 1829 and flourished until Abbot Academy and Phillips Academy merged on June 28, 1973.

Today, The Brace Center for Gender Studies is honored to partner with the Abbot Academy Association to preserve Abbot’s legacy and traditions, supporting bold, innovative, caring women in their educational pursuits.
