Participants will benefit from full use of Phillips Academy’s beautiful campus and state-of-the-art facilities, which include the Addison Gallery of American Art and the Robert S. Peabody Institute of Archeology. Besides establishing close connections with their Institute peers, they will have opportunities to interact informally with faculty members participating in Andover’s Summer Session. In addition, some of the content of the Summer Gender Institute’s sessions may be enhanced through field trips to Boston-area sites.
The Institute fee is $1575, and it includes tuition, a single room in on-campus housing, 3 daily meals, teaching materials, and special events and presentations.
Please note: Phillips Academy is a tobacco-free campus.
Arrival & Check in
Please plan to arrive in the late afternoon or early evening of July 26th. Check-in will be at Cooley House.
We will not be able to accommodate arrivals on Monday July 27th, as the program will be in progress already.
Housing at Phillips Academy dorms is included in the institute fee from July 26th through August 1st. Please keep in mind that check out is expected on August 1st. No early arrivals or late departures can be accommodated.
At this point, we are not able to offer an all-gender dorm option, so dorms will be assigned by binary genders. Each participant will be assigned a single room with shared bathrooms. Linens, pillow, blanket, and towels are provided. Dorms have wireless access through the PA network. Laundry machines are available as pay-per-load. Please note that there is no air conditioning in the dorms. Since summer in New England can get toasty, we suggest you plan to bring a fan- or you can easily buy one in downtown Andover once you arrive to campus.
If you would rather stay at a hotel, feel free to make your own arrangements. Keep in mind that unless you are staying on the Phillips Academy campus you will need transportation to and from campus. Some local overnight options:
The Andover Inn – located on the Phillips Academy campus.
All meals are provided between dinner on July 26th and dinner on August 1st at Paresky Commons, the main dining hall at Phillips Academy, in the core of campus. If you are feeling adventurous, there are several tasty options within walking distance from campus, and some delicious delivery possibilities. Additional culinary destinations are available just an Uber away.
